Monday 17th March
We had some rain overnight – I knew this at 4am, wen Bertie came in soaked and wanted under the duvet. We certainly need it.
By 6.30am, the sun was out and it was shaping up to be a nice day.
Tuesday 18th March
Murdo was here – Dan had to work at his desk, so Murdo finished the planting of the spinney and then planted some spare hawthorn along the burn side of Sheepfold.
I finished weeding the polytunnel – hopefully the ground elder is a least checked a bit. And planted up some lavender plug plants - 12 Munstead
Lavender Munstead.
Our neighbour scarrified his lawna nd dumped the moss over the wall into our field. He thought "it would blow away or disappear". He removed it. A bit.
Our neighbour's moss.
Wednesday 19th March
Hard frost this morning, but clearing to another lovely day. John the Tractor was here to fix our old John Deere – new water pump and a bit of a service. The heater pipes were corroded, so he took them out. We don’t use the heater anyway. Dan hitched up the harrow, ready to make a start on Sheepfold.
The tomatoes and chives have sprouted, along with the salvia, some sweet peas and the Brussels Sprouts.
Seedlings.
Thursday 20th March
Finally broke the inertia and planted up the bed under the dining room window. Totally thrown by losing the plant labels, but I recognised some plats, if not varieties. Sweet Rocket, Wallflower, Geum. Hopefully will look OK.
Front bed planted.
Sheepfold harrowed.
Tractor in Home, ready for morning.
Friday 21st March
Home harrowed; it needs topped as well, but we’ll get all the paddocks harrowed before changing to the topper.
I planted up 12 Echinacea plug plants.
Saturday 22nd March
Quite a bit of rain overnight – not that we didn’t need it – much milder today and a bit muggy.
It was Linda’s birthday lunch today, with the family, and then Dan went off to the curling.
The garden is coming on. So are the weeds.
Front garden.
Sunday 23rd March
Lovely sunrise.
Sunrise.
Off to Hampden to see Scotland trounce Greece to stay in Group A of the Nations League. Didn’t quite work out like that and it was a pretty dismal performance, resulting in a 3-0 defeat, 3-1 on aggregate. At last it was a 5pm kick off so home at a reasonable time.
I ate a bag of “Skittles” and feel quite sick.
