Its been a couple of years since we had a puppy in the house. Our gundogs are kennelled, but only at night. During the day I have been bring the pup in for a couple of hours to make sure he is familiar with normal household goings ons. He was bumbling round the kitchen last night and I was reminded of something I read once- not sure where. It went along the lines of:
"How to punish for puppy chewing.
Keep a rolled-up newspaper handy at all times.
If you see the puppy chewing something it shouldn't, take the rolled up newspaper and bash yourself over the head repeating "I must not leave things out the puppy shouldn't chew"!!!!"
Made me smile anyway :D

That piece of advice was given to me by the breeder of the first dog I bought myself!

Blimey guys, do I come across as a brutal puppy beater?? :roflanim:

No, of course not, but there are still a lot of people about who think that punishment is what is needed when a puppy is naughty! My goodness, if I'd been that way inclined my wee Missy would have been beaten to a pulp by now. :innocent:
It was the heading of your post that gave me my instant reaction - till I saw who it was from :eyelashes:

Great advice but I find a mirror and a water pistol to be rather effective at times.
