I first registered for the forum almost two years ago when we first had a chance on our smallholding Rhyd y Ffos, we are now 18 months and an extra member of the family in to this life and it seems like a good time to get around to saying hello properly
Rhyd y Ffos is about 12 acres of mostly permanent pasture and a couple of small wooded areas plus some common grazing rights on rough moorland and a few fruit trees. Garden in planning.
We are taking the time to get to know our patch and so far have mainly just cleared, tidied and made hay. We have a few chickens and winter store sheep at the moment. Next jobs on the list are thinning a wooded area, sorting out the access track and preparing for a couple of pet pigs (nominally contributing by helping to clear the undergrowth in one of the woods
) We do also take on some tree work, forestry, engineering and small-scale contracting work in the area.
Very pleased to meet you all
Rebecca (best half), Mark (me), Arianwen (shouty toddling offspring), Evie (hardworking and tolerant spaniel) Stretchy (hardworking cat) and Kira (lazy cat).
Can't seem to post pictures up, will have a crack at that another day.
Turns out I can. We can't take credit for those pumpkins and if you are wondering about the very sparse hay behind us - that was the week after we moved in... We did a bit better summer '22
