One of my customers has in the past made a small amount of small bale hay.
He is unsure to do it this year due to lack of interest but if he had a guaranteed buyer he would make it.
Location is Forfar and unfortunately it would be collection only.

Obviously not for me due to location ... but a bit difficult to answer this until hay is made and price is set isn't it?

Granted this is correct but at the same time he doesn't really want to spend the time and money to make it for it to sit in a shed like it did last year. If no-one is interested he'll cut the grass and likely burn it. He asked if I knew if anyone would be interested and I said I would ask about. The fact that its small bale I thought that it may interest some folk.

I have another customer who made hay last year and good hay at that and hardly any of it has been sold due to a huge glut of hay and straw last year. It will be a different story this year (especially up in this neck of the woods) as first cut silages are not big by any means.

Try selling it on preloved, a lot of people do that

stick it on preloved/gumtree-alot of horse owners want small bale (me included but too far away). Make sure they take a deposit!

my hay guy tells me its growing slowly this year although he has plenty of last years left, he's a good bloke, actually put his prices down last summer and one of the few people I know who can reliably supply good quality, small bale hay.

Tell your mate to bale the lot ,looking at past prices relative to weather he will sell whatever he makes 3 times ,its gonna be a tight year in Scotland for hay even tighter for small bales !

horse owners are always desparate for small bale hay and its really difficult to get as everywhere is making awkward big bales now.
small bales advertised on gum tree will sell no problem.

Amazingly down in Wiltshire despite having barns full of last yeArs hay farmers are still trying to get £5 per bale. I understand the need to make money but if you are getting close to cutting this year's surely you want to sell it at realistic price and clear space.

I bought some for £3 but my goats wouldn't touch it. At the right price he should sell easy.

I live at Finavon with 5 donkeys and Shetland and would be very interested for small bales so local to me. We paid £3 last year but that was over at Kellas so not so convenient but the hay was good!
