That's pretty much about all you have to do. The only thing is if you are in Scotland then it is recommended not to add water to the incubator. I have just yesterday hatched some hen eggs and had no water at all in the incubator. Good luck.

Why do you not add water to the incubator in Scotland?  Just because we are such a damp place?  And does this still apply when we have had so much warm and dry weather?  Ruaridh has goose eggs in the incubator at the moment and now I'm wondering whether we should be worrying about the water in the resevoir?  He has bought the eggs himself and between 8 eggs and postage it's a chunk of his pocket money so obviously he is very keen for success!!

I can't remember why I was given that information Lisa but it has always worked better for me since I stopped adding water. I think now that Rhuridh has added water it may be better to leave it than take it away - you did manage to hatch some chicks earlier so fingers crossed.

some people do dry hatches they live off the moisture off the eggs .my incubates runs out some times i leave them well alone . iff the humidity is above 60 percent out side it shouldn't do no harm
