Notes
Month: October
Diameter: 4cm
Height: 3cm
Terrain: Edge of path
Substrate: Soil

Comments:
I found this solitary specimen growing at the edge of a path on the edge of a cricket ground. I first thought I was Cortinarius Violaceus but now suggestions have come in that it is a wood blewitt.

Copied this from a fungi ident website that had photos almost identical to yours

that isnt a blewitt (lepista nuda), the base ofthe stem is bulbous on a blewitt, the gills dont look right for a blewitt either, in the photo theyre more like ridges rather than gills. blewitts are a medium, chunky, meaty mushroom and the gills do not run down the stem as in the photo. dont eat it for gods sake!!!
