Ah, that is so sweet. I've never heard of it before but sounds like a good idea

Three dead baby blackbirds, too young to fledge, plus one alive but out of the nest today.  We put the live one back in but it must have fallen back out and one of the dogs got it  :(    I think the heavy rain had washed them out.  That's the third of three blackbirds nests here which have failed this year for one reason and another.  :gloomy:

That's a good idea.

The birds have been quite successful around here this year, I currently have fledgling swallows flapping round my ears in the goat byre and the coal shed. The house martins have picked a sensible window overhang to build in so haven't been washed away half way through like last year - I can't open that window now but hey - and judging by the number of small blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, robins and sparrows it's been a good year for them too  :)

I presume the jackdaws have done well too, given the immense numbers  ::)

Just need the luck to extend to my geese and runner ducks, currently sitting, now  :)
