My Light Sussex stock cock.

Here's my LS stock cock with one of his hens.  I don't show LS but breed and them for utility purposes but even so, I hope that you'll agree that he's a beauty.

He's in his third year now and is filling just about every egg. I wouldn't and couldn't be without my Light Sussex.

He's a fine specimen I have to say, just like our Jethro. I LOVE LS chooks although they are never the friendliest, the red chooks seem to be the tamest.

Mary, I've heard other people say that LS can be a bit feisty but I think thats down to the strain of LS that you keep, rather than to the breed in general. The nastiest cocks that I've kept have actually been RIR. The LS females are real softies too. I have one or two of them that have managed to come up with a system of getting past the electric fencing. Every evening when its time for them to go back into their pens and sheds for the night, they follow me around like little dogs.
