Anyone got, surplus to requirements or for sale, or make, wicker trugs?  We use ours for sitting under the turnip cutter to catch the turnip chips, then taking them out to the stock in the field.  Ours is past being on its last metaphorical legs.

It needs to be 2'6" to 3' long (to fit under the turnip cutter and catch the chips) and about 18" wide (ditto); depth 10" or so.  Handle not necessary; the reinforced bits at the sides where you can hang onto it are fine.

I can post a pic of the old one (before it collapses completely  ) if needed.

 Presume yours is the old type root chopper that is worked by a round plate like a vertical flat grater?
 Well after all our wide necked catching containers had rotted away, I found a simple solution. This was to use a large bucket on a breeze block, or similar. The block raised the bucket right up to the throat of the chopper, so the bits of turnip went straight into it as they didn't have room to go shooting all over the place. This also has the added advantage that your catching container has a handle, so you can carry 2 at a time.

Thanks for that, llr; we can also use empty 80kg mineral tubs (between these and baler twine, farmers can do most things!  ) - but BH likes his wicker trug and I'd like to get him a new(er) one.

If no-one has a one kicking about, does anyone make wicker items and could make one for him?  I'd rather buy from a TASer than some unknown vendor elsewhere on t'internet.
