It’s the day for my monthly Craft and Natter but I’ve missed the last few so I don’t suppose another one will matter. The poster said bring your own lunch but is there somewhere nearby where I can have lunch?

I'm not sure about that, Welshpool is on the way to it from yours.  I don't go through the rest of the village to get to it so only know my side, I'll ask the others.
We'll have tea, coffee and cake for sale but not sure about gluten free etc.
Have to admit failure in my organising on that score but no-one else has mentioned it even ones who I know can't have various things.

OK, so I asked the others and suggestions have been -
The Railway Inn, Forden, google say they do food
Montgomery lots of eating places, only 5 minutes drive away
Coed y Dinas, Welshpool but they've got a winter fair so probably really busy
Bring your own sandwiches so you can chat and look around for longer.

I've also sent an email around to make sure all the cake ingredients are listed.
hope that helps.

That’s great, thanks, Debbie. I have persuaded Alan that he would like to come with me. The lunch out clinched it so I’ll do some planning. I would like to stay as long as possible, of course, so I need to keep him sweet.  :roflanim:

Sneaky, I was wondering why you weren't just bringing a sandwich. ;)
I don't think any of us have first hand experience of the local eating places we all travel to the meetings at Forden.

Maybe I could bribe him with cake instead, especially if there is Victoria sandwich or lemon drizzle. It would be easier to bring our own lunch.

There are two tearooms in Montgomery. Both are good.

Or the village of Berriew is not too far away. It has a very pleasant tearoom and two pubs. I've not been yet but the artist Andrew Logan has bought one of the pubs recently, The Lion, and the interior looks 'interesting' ..... Recently refurbished in Logan style! Berriew is a pretty village to visit.

The Winter Fair at Coed y Dinas (Charlie's) is well worth a look for crafts and local food but is popular and can be busy. Charlie's is worth a visit if you haven't been and the restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced.

Can you tell me the secret of these extra long days you seem to have found, please.

Just realised that I am already booked on Saturday. I’m so disappointed and annoyed with my iPhone which had deleted it from the diary, which is why I thought I was free.  :tired:  Is the open day an annual event?
