Sheep Keeping Course

Sheep health and husbandry
Taught by veterinary surgeons


Come and join us on Sunday 20th October!


This is a day course held in our smallholding, with our lovely flock of Black Welsh Mountain sheep.


A mix of classroom teaching and plenty of hands-on sessions with the sheep.
Covering:


 :sheep: Getting started with sheep - choosing a suitable breed.  Legislation, ear tags, paperwork.
 :sheep:  Sheep health - preventing problems such as footrot, flystrike.  Worming and vaccinations. Treating common conditions.  Drawing up a flock health plan.
 :sheep: Handling, catching and examing sheep.  Routine tasks.
 :sheep: Grazing, grassland and feeding sheep
 :sheep:  Finishing growing lambs for breeding or meat.
