1st of many
« on: October 21, 2013, 08:28:09 pm »
1 of my many weaknesses , I couldn't help myself.....they were there piled high , tempting me ....and no Gabi to put a stop to my annual craving. ...2 packets found their way home with me, lids prized off , filled with brandy and cream ......my first mince pies of the season . :excited: :excited: :excited:

I have to admit that I don't much like mince pies.

I don't like 'em either - but I can't resist the chocolates that're on offer at this time of year (or any other time of year for that matter).

I love good chocolate but Quality Street, Roses, Heroes etc leave me cold. Too sweet and sickly.

I love homemade mincemeat and pies made with puff pastry rather than shortcrust, which I find a bit claggy.

If you get any "spare" Roses or Quality Street, you know where I am  :innocent: .......funny as I am not a chocolate fan as it gives me bad migraines'....try not to buy them for that very reason

Recently had a box of Ecclefechan tarts (Walkers brand) - absolutely yummy - and a nice alternative to Mince Pies

Oh no - Apple pie, with cinnamon, and a sweet shortcrust pastry, made extra crunchy from a goodly sprinkle of demerara sugar, with whipped double cream...

Shame OH doesn't do 'sweet' - he's definitely a savoury man! He'd rather have a steak and kidney pie with rough puff any day.
