help needed - what is a portion of fruit and veg?
« on: November 16, 2009, 08:01:57 pm »
Anyone help me here, i'm trying to get a definitive list of all fruit and veg to find out just how much makes 1 portion (you know, of your 5 a day)

the government site lists about 5 different things as a portion - not exactly helpful (or maybe I just can't find it!)

thanks
SB

I'm pretty sure that cigarettes and coffee make up two of the 5 a day, well,,, in my house anyway!

I love a banana toasty, made in the toasty maker, with golden syrup. Mmm.

Still counts as one of the 5 a day.

Does Christmas cake - it has lots of fruit in it?

Banana split must count for 2 or 3.  There's banana, nuts, cherry on top?  Now if you eat a whole trifle, that would definitely be your five a day.   :cat: :chook:

That's what I thought too HappyHippy.  So the bigger hands you have the more fruit and veg you should eat.
