ok solve this one then!!
« on: June 04, 2008, 12:27:05 am »
Our cat chased a hen pheasant off its nest just under 3 weeks ago and found 20 pheasant eggs and 2 duck eggs in it. Thinking it probably wouldn't return i took 9 pheasant eggs and the 2 duck eggs out and put them in the incubator. I candled the duck eggs and found one wasn't growing so threw it out. So Far so Good.pheasants incubation period 21 days(ish) duck incubation 28 days (ish) Heres the kicker (wife plays poker) how come 2 pheasants and the duck hatched together? Answers on a postcard to.....

The duck eggs were layed before, then the hen pheasant stole the nest??
They don’t join cliques — more times than not, they stand alone — but they recognize and gravitate towards one another. Only warriors understand other warriors.

Thats probably about what happened.... although its usually the ducks chasing the pheasants around the lawn. They hate anyone else pinching their grazing spot
